Old Caledonia Luxury Golf Travel is a company that is looking to catapult itself into the busy golf industry. Based it Carnoustie, it is a hive for travelling golfers but it needed help attracting more clients. One way was to give the company an identity.
In this instant the client simply wanted their logo redesigned. The client wanted a golf logo with ornaments surrounding a shield. The budget was fairly tight for this project but the client was delighted with the end result. The logo contained a golf ball and clubs on the shield and a banner with Latin text. The text reads “Alternum Itchum Faciam” which is slightly tongue and cheek as it translates roughly to “I will take a mulligan”. A mulligan is an american golfing term meaning to have another go with no repercussions or penalties.
What is important to remember in any good business is that “the customer is always right” and in this instant I offered many small opinions as to where I felt the logo could be improved but, at the end of the day, the client was happy with the product as it was. It is always good to offer advice or opinions but you must give the client a product they want – not yourself.
The website was not design during this project.
